TR in the modern day, connecting with young people—first time an AI image has made me wistful. We can’t remember five minutes past. Can we honor and learn from a president who served a century-and-a-quarter ago? The only American from that era who seems to stick is Henry Ford—anti-intellectual, antisemitic, propagating a society-altering technology with unforeseen side effects. History is bunk, until you repeat it. And the good parts, like Theodore Roosevelt’s leadership, rarely get such treatment.

TR has so much wisdom to convey in our moment. Truly an indelible part of the American experiment. We owe it to future generations to bring he and his project into focus.

I admire Theodore Roosevelt as well. He has never really received the appreciation he well deserves. Thank you for sharing, Jim.

This is an absolutely first-rate idea! I think DJT is attempting to manifest a bit of TR but, of course, he'll never meet the standard.

Its well written and I agree with most of it, but in regards to "[Wilson’s] failure to secure Senate ratification of the Treaty of Versailles in 1919 contributed to the conditions that led to the Second World War." I feel like d**k saying this but I've really gotten to this point, and for whatever its worth I know and have met random others who have as well (might not be worth much, but still), and I just cant help but think that this point of view, which I used to have, when held with firm confidence and without nuance regarding the broad strokes of it, is the result of propaganda we've been receiving our whole lives. ike, if that ha actually all worked out, it would have ment that capital "G" Globalization booted up a half century earlier than it did, they were still going to punish Germany with debt (it may have just been personal material motivations on some big players parts though), and they were still going to -- perversely -- undercover work to maintain Elite continuity in Germany, and so Germany was going to have an F'd up and extractive system, if it had prevented the war then that would have meant that they did succeed in establishing Globalism in those decades, and the many of the african, c. an s. american, and asian countries may not have had those mid twentieth century development decades, but there was and is other options, its not literally deeply centralized planetary planning and aristocracy or chaos, there are other options....

Thanks for sharing, Mike. Lots of interesting points to consider about the Versailles Treaty and its consequences. In this context, I'm inclined not to divert attention from the underlying proposition, that there are a number of reasons to consider reprogramming budget from the Wilson Center to a TR citizenship center.
