The New Nationalist mobilizes history for America’s Fourth Founding.

At hinge moments in American history, prior generations updated our nationalism. Our unfinished project—pursuing the ideals of our Declaration of Independence—spurs change. Our constitutional system resets. A new political settlement is achieved.

The founders of the generation of 1776 were succeeded by the Civil War generation. Lincoln’s leadership achieved a Second Founding. In the twentieth century, Franklin Roosevelt’s Third Founding encompassed the New Deal and the postwar international order.

Theodore Roosevelt’s New Nationalism

In his New Nationalism speech of 1910, Theodore Roosevelt presented an actionable vision for the 20th century. He provided a template for American nationalism.

Roosevelt and his generation are inspirations as we face corresponding challenges.

Independent, Nonpartisan Analysis

In our polarized moment, there’s no shortage of partisan perspectives and commentary.

The New Nationalist is not affiliated or aligned with a party or interest group.

This is reflected in our guest contributors, who express a range of views.

Serve to Lead Podcast
