Daniel Esty is the Hillhouse Professor of Environmental Law and Policy at Yale University. He directs the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy and serves on the advisory board of the Center for Business & Environment at Yale. Esty also served as Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection from 2011-14.
In this wide-ranging discussion with host James Strock, Esty discusses his new book, A Better Planet: Forty Big Ideas for a Sustainable Future. He reflects on the breakdown of the historic bipartisan consensus in American environmental politics, and offers ideas for going forward. Esty also discusses the changing nature of 21st century environmental leadership, and the arc of his career as an educator.
